“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” (John 14:26 NLT) When we open God’s Word, it’s like entering a classroom with the Holy Spirit as our teacher. He reveals God’s truth to our hearts, guiding us in understanding His message. We are never alone in figuring out what God is saying to us. The Word of God is alive and powerful (Hebrews 4:12-13), cutting through our thoughts and revealing our innermost desires. The Holy Spirit illuminates Scripture when we commit to reading and meditating on it throughout the day (Psalm 1:2-3). This process keeps God’s Word in our minds, allowing us to hear His voice more clearly. In times of trial and spiritual battle, the Holy Spirit brings Scripture to mind, just as Jesus used it against the enemy’s temptations (Matthew 4:4). Paul describes God’s Word as the “sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17), a weapon to defeat the enemy. As we engage with God’s Word, we continuously learn and grow. The Holy Spirit brings fresh revelation, guiding us in our daily walk. Let’s remain sensitive to His voice and let God’s Word be a lamp to our feet (Psalm 119:105).
Prayer
Holy Spirit, teach us as we read the Word. Reveal new insights and guide us in applying it to our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.
