Hebrews 5:14 (EVS) “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”

Daily, we face decisions between right and wrong which are the paths that lead us closer to or away from God. Discernment that comes from spiritual maturity, is the ability to see clearly through the lens of God’s truth, helping us choose the righteous path. The word for “discernment” means distinguishing or judging, pointing to a spiritual insight that we develop by seeking God’s wisdom and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us. With His guidance we can avoid temptations, distinguish between godly and worldly influences allowing us honor God in our decisions. When fear, confusion or uncertainty stirs, take a moment to pause and pray. Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s will and trust that He will show the right way forward. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust the Lord fully, to not rely on our own understanding but seek His in every step. Building discernment is vital not only for our own spiritual growth but also for the encouragement of others. As we make decisions grounded in God’s truth, our lives become a testimony to His wisdom, inspiring those around us to seek Him as well. This daily practice of seeking discernment helps us live out our faith confidently, knowing we’re guided by God’s wisdom in a world full of compromise.
