Psalm 25:21 (NLT) says, “May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.”

Integrity lies at the core of who we are as followers of Jesus. David prayed that “integrity and honesty” would protect him as he placed his hope in God. The Hebrew word for integrity means completeness, wholeness, and innocence. It speaks to living in a way that is blameless before God—where our thoughts, intentions, and actions align with His truth. Integrity begins in the heart. Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) reminds us to guard our heart, for it determines the course of our life. We must protect our heart from influences that can lead us astray from God. What we watch, listen to, and even the company we keep can affect the condition of our heart.

However, we cannot maintain integrity on our own. Like David, we must put our hope in the Lord. It’s through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to live in integrity. Jesus taught us to pray for protection from temptation in Matthew 6:13 (NLT): “And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.” As we surrender our heart to God each day, He aligns us with His will, restoring integrity and leading us into a deeper relationship with Him.

Ask yourself:

Is my heart aligned with God’s?

Are my actions consistent with my faith in Christ?

Let the Holy Spirit guide you to walk in integrity and live a life that honors Him.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to live with integrity, to guard my heart, and to align my thoughts and actions with Your truth. Protect me from temptation and guide me by Your Spirit. I place my hope in You alone. Amen.
